As hard as it is to imagine, NetZero’s Platinum pay internet pay service is not worth the $10 a month that it costs. If there is any truth to the old adage, you get what you pay for, then Netzero should cost nothing, because that is exactly what you get. Even if you do not mind the obnoxious sign in advertisements (yes, these come with the pay service as well) that basically makes your computer unusable while you connect, there are plenty more problems to fill your needs. Included in this is random disconnects, downloads sometimes lower than 500 bytes/s (yes, bytes, not kb), Netzero pop-up ads, rejected connections (up to 5 minutes or more just to get connected if including all the times it fails and has to redial), busy signals even at 4:30 in the morning and transfer rates so slow that some web pages will timeout before loading. And that’s not the worst of it. Sometimes it’s no different than not being connected to the internet at all. To see what this is like, just start playing around your with your web browser without connecting to the internet and you will know what it is to have NetZero. This service should never really be considered by anyone who actually needs to use it.

AWFUL! AWFUL and I was paying for the "High Speed". Most times as soon as I would get logged on mmediately I would get the "end of session" and get booted. Then after re-logging back on it would happen every 20-30 minutes. I could not get any sort of email with attachments without dropped connection. May be okay for unimportant browsing and short e'mail messages but if you need to actually work and be online for long periods of time and send/receive work related e'mails with attachments and downloads, better look into something else.... JUST TERRIBLE!

Started out well. Easy installation, Easy connection and Fast linkup. That lasted for 10 days. Then it was slow start up and slow linkup. The system would "lock-up" and need a reboot...............repeatedly. Not being the most patient person in the world, I cancelled in the third week of a month's trial. hdtbear

I always seem to be having another problem getting online and the Hi-Speed seems no faster than my old AOL. Def. a pain when it boots you off for inactivity.

The connections take forever, often requiring multiple calls. Their lines just won't give you a handshake. Their notification of "inactivity" doesn't sit on top of the active window, but on the desktop, so you don't know it's there. Even with high-speed, downloads regularly go down to 1.5kbs. I remember getting faster downloads 20 years ago with 110 baud.

My main complaint is that I was booted off the Internet after only 20 minutes if I didn't move my mouse. I could not find a way to adjust browser settings that would correct this. This means that longer downloads would be interrupted and the connection would be lost.

Netzero Hispeed is a joke. When the hispeed is disabled there is no difference in speed. The only difference is the price. Lately I have been having connection problems with many of the local access numbers in my area so I am cancelling and going with Copper.net

NetZero is easy to install, easy to get going, but the problem is to KEEP it going. I've had difficulties connecting in inclement weather, and moreover had difficulties connecting for seemingly no reason at all. (One computer flat out stopped connecting to it.) If you're a casual web-surfer, that stays on for maybe an hour, two at most, NetZero is right up your alley. However, if you're into online gaming or anything that involves an extended period of time online, don't bother downloading because the server automatically boots you every 3-4 hours and isn't worth the hassle.
