Peoplepc is the best isp I have ever used! Peoplepc is also fast and easy to use! I always get a fast reliable connection! Peoplepc is easy to use all I have to do to connect to the internet is click connect! The smart dialer is awesome! It automatically connects you to the best access number! Peoplepc is also great for big downloads! As peoplepc never disconnects! (i have tried netzero, at&t world net service, and juno turbo) None of those isp's have great connection speeds, easy to use softwear, or work with big downloads. Plus peoplepc's tech support is awesome! I highly recommend peoplepc as your first on next isp!

People PC accelerated is in fact an IRONY! "It's so fast that it has to stop and take a one hour rest period--SLOW! SLOW! SLOW!" At first I thought it was my computer, but NO! Actually, I disconnected my computer, took it to a friend's house who had DSL, and BAM! On line in a matter of seconds! As for the 5X faster bit...NOT! Since I cannot get DSL service in my area, I thought I'd give Peoplepc a try. Of course, if you have a few hours on your hands to wait for a page to load, this might be the service for you. Forget about getting on at all in the afternoon and evenings. It's virtually impossible. The connection speed is so slow that I often can take a long nap and the page still isn't loaded. What a piece of junk site this is! I can't call it a good price because I feel I am giving away my money since I give up each time I try to surf the net with Peoplepc. Don't subscribe to this service!!!!!!!!!

People PC is an unscrupulous company who has tried to charge me when I was never their customer. They acquired my name from highstream.net even though I had already canceled my highstream account. Now they persist in sending me bills and charging my credit card even though I was never their customer.

I am not a member for People PC. Stop wasting your money on cheepo internet service like people pc and come to Basic ISP where you get unlimited internet service at 6.95 a month no commitment or the accelerated plan for 9.95 with no commitment. It's a great deal and the price never goes up with Basic ISP! Unlike people pc PLUS! When you call, you will be talking to a American tech support person! Just go to basicisp.net and sign up and start experiencing the best of dial-up internet! I am a member of Basic ISP.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. This includes service and support. After working for support for an hour because I was getting blue screen for memory error. They wanted me to disable virus software to logon to service. I understand doing this for installing software but not when online. They said disable it when online and enable it again when offline. The point of virus software is to protect when online. After constant problems for month and a half I called to cancel service. I called billing and selected cancel service from menu. With no input of who I was a recording said my account was terminated two months previously and then disconnected my call. I called again to talk to someone. They then asked for my ID. I gave it and they asked for my name and address. I did so. They then wanted me to answer a security question. They asked me to give last 4 digits of credit card that was on account. I reached for my wallet and within 5 seconds after asking question they said I took to long to answer security question and I would need to answer another. 5 seconds to tell them a number. They expected me to know by memory the last for digits of my credit card. Unbelievable! They then asked for my birthday and was then able to talk to them about canceling account. After 15 minutes of them trying to talk me out of stopping service they would not accept my request without offering me free service for month, free software and support. I just said I am paid up for 3 weeks and I don’t want service. Even if it was free I told them I do not want it. They then said they would cancel it but would be sending CD of free software if I decide to get service again. Wow.

I called Monday evening (this is Wed. a.m.) to get info and neglected to check this company out. I am disabled and was simply trying to save money; Cust. Srv. gave me the wrong information right from the beginning and talked me into 3-months at $4.97. 1st tech couldn't help with hookup so told me to get local telephone company to help..(where is he from??) and then get a computer tech to do it? (duh..why was I calling *him* and a pc tech would cost minimum of $100 to come to my home??) I called back to cancel order but was ignored, that another tech would help. Meanwhile 1st tech told me to turn Norton AV off; thank goodness it was set to come back on w/in 15 minutes because it blocked FOUR viruses/worms--on PeoplePC's sites!!! Beware of this!! 3 more techs later..and horrible experiences where I couldn't understand them, they couldn't understand me--the tech just told me to uninstall it with "add-delete". That will NOT do it..I went into my files and deleted PeoplePC files. That didn't do it. I did a search for PeoplePC files and thought I had it all but last night, it took over Outlook Express..and People PC is SLOW, the accelerator stuff is bogus.. I sent an email about 2 a.m. Tues., stating that I had a HOLD on my VISA and they would NOT be able to charge. I will change my VISA number if I have to.. I am going to refer them to the BBB. BUT 1st, I want to post here..so that those who check the company FIRST, as I usually do--but was so excited they finally had a local access # (or so I hope--last tech said he couldn't find ONE..great..local phone Co. said I did but they aren't all that great either:-()--that I didn't check the company like I usually do. STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLEPC! IT ISN'T WORTH SAVING MONEY AS IT IS NO GOOD (SLOW, FREEZES, VIRUSES ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE, BAD TECH SUPPORT AND SO ON..) Then you cannot cancel even if you call back quite quickly!! They have the resources to cancel and will even tell you that they have removed all changes, then you get an email invoice the following day? DO NO BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU! WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY..BEWARE..

They advertise in AARP and how AARP could allow it says to me they must be getting big bucks for and ads or people who work there have never used dial-up. Worst service, slow connection, lot of freezes...let's just say, I'm anxious to lose them and their "billing" ways - which is another subjest they lie about...

I am not happy with this service at all. I am thinking of cancelling them. They better not be billing me into the future like they have with other people. I have asked for help with getting my MS Outlook to work with their mail service and have got no help what so ever. Their instructions are very unclear to me. My Outlook is still not working plus I cannot put any file attachments with their email. I am really unhappy. I better not get messed up with the billing either. I have repeatedly told them that I am a novice and cannot seem to follow their instructions for MS Outlook. I am really unhappy with them. Stay away from them.

PeoplePC provides a very finicky connection. It is slow, as well. The customer "service" is not - I signed up for a second email account online, with no indication anywhere that it would cost me extra. (After a second email address was specifically advertised.) A couple months later we realized that we were being charged $2/month more. When I inquired about it, I was told that it was because we had "upgraded" by adding the second address. Interestingly enough, it was not possible to "downgrade" on the website, and this took not only the telephone call but several emails and, finally, a letter to the Better Business Bureau to resolve. The service also does not work with Linux at all.

I currently have Peoplepc and am looking for another ISP.It will do for now.I dislike having to use their special dialer, everytime I use it I stop the Peoplepc programs through my task manager after getting connected. They install a toolbar to internet explorer and I deactivated it using a program called BHODemon. If you have spybot you can deactivate it with that as well. My connection speed is 42.6 kbps. They automatically disconnect you after a few hours but they allow me to reconnect again imediately as many times as I want. They don't have any monthly or daily time limits other than that.Been a member for about two months. I sure do miss acccess4less.

I signed up with them yesterday. The sales person told me I would have to disable my norton antivirus software in order to download their software. I wasn't about to do that so I tried to download with it on. Now I am having tons of trouble with trojan horse viruses. My norton is going crazy, I am wiping their software off my computer and will not install another ISP who says to disable norton.

Stay away from PeoplePC! After only 3 months using this ISP, I now cannot connect to the Internet or reinstall the software they had sent us. When I called the $1.95 per minute customer support line (that's supposed to be available 24/7), no one picked up and after being on hold for almost 10 minutes, I got a voicemail message instead. They finally e-mailed me back with a standard reply that proved no help at all, seeing as I told them I couldn't connect to the Internet and the customer service rep. told me to fix the problem by connecting to the Internet. Bottom line: PeoplePC is not worth the money you might save.

Hi,i don't speak very well english but i'm gonna try to explain my problem the better possible. I have the PeoplePc Internet service from almost 8 months,at the start i hated the ******* program that comes with the internet so i decided to used another method... ...IMPORTANT TO WHO DON'T WANT THE DIALER... If you want a better method to dial, you must write the numbers of you area-code or number of acces more close to you, then you create a Network Connection of dial-up like any other in the Settings. At the User Name you put the username of peoplepc example: xxxxx@peoplepc.com In the password you put your password of the service and in the number to dial you select any of the number of acces and writed there, then you can connect to the service without the ******* dialer. I finded that it was a better way cause i don't need the Dialer active. Another problem that i have is the speed,at the first three months the start speed was of like 50kb/seg "GOOD" but NOW THE SPEED IS OF THE ******* 24 KB/SEG AND VERY LESS. Not even the ******* accelerator can help with the speed,is only a trick to make you believe that is going to be more fast. WARNING: POEPLEPC IS A FRAUD,CHEAT AND BAD COMPANY...

I found that by making a temperary connection, i was able to avoid the smart dialer all together. It's not like I didn't try for hours to disable the firewall (which shouldn't even be an issue) and i have yet to be disconnected. Personally I like them(with my temp method) Their customer support is a joke. All three times i called i spoke with could barely speak english, that in itself was discouraging to me. As far as a 900# for technical support I would never call it, I would sooner switch companies.

PeoplePC is a hideous ISP. They intentionally force users to install and use the "Smart Dialer" so that ads may be served on the user's machines. A user may not set up a standard dial-up connection. The developers at PeoplePC went out of their way to break compatibility with standard Windows dial-up networking, impacting a number of user scenarios (sharing an internet connection, autodialing for nighttime updates, etc). The dialer is intrusive and annoying, pestering the user when the user is "disconnected"--even while using a laptop on an existing wireless connection. Recently, I've discovered that if are using an alternate connection (wireless at an internet cafe), it is impossible to send mail through PeoplePC's servers...this is a supported feature with every other ISP I've used, and I assume PeoplePC intentionally broke that user scenario so that one must use the crappy dialer software. On top of _all_ that, the technical support is a 900 number. Experience with PeoplePC: hateful, painful, indignant, asphyxiating.

I needed help with access numbers not connecting to the internet. I spoke with 4 different Tech Support people and they just wanted to explain to me how to install the software. I have been a member for 3 years and the software was already on my computer! I tried every access number in my area code and none of them would connect. Tech Support was very unhelpful and did not listen to what the actual problem was. I am now looking for a different ISP because I have had this problem with People PC 2 times in the past 6 months. I would not recommend their service.
