As hard as it is to imagine, NetZero’s Platinum pay internet pay service is not worth the $10 a month that it costs. If there is any truth to the old adage, you get what you pay for, then Netzero should cost nothing, because that is exactly what you get. Even if you do not mind the obnoxious sign in advertisements (yes, these come with the pay service as well) that basically makes your computer unusable while you connect, there are plenty more problems to fill your needs. Included in this is random disconnects, downloads sometimes lower than 500 bytes/s (yes, bytes, not kb), Netzero pop-up ads, rejected connections (up to 5 minutes or more just to get connected if including all the times it fails and has to redial), busy signals even at 4:30 in the morning and transfer rates so slow that some web pages will timeout before loading. And that’s not the worst of it. Sometimes it’s no different than not being connected to the internet at all. To see what this is like, just start playing around your with your web browser without connecting to the internet and you will know what it is to have NetZero. This service should never really be considered by anyone who actually needs to use it. |
