all I have to do to "switch to broadband", is change the router to use the new broadband link (instead of the dial-up modem). From the perspective of the user PCs on the LAN, about the only thing that changes is the speed of the "gateway" to the internet. The "router" handles all the complexity of connecting to the internet, the PCs just know that the router is their LAN "gateway"!
