By setting things up this way, you can have your LAN all configured and tested/running (with your existing "dial-up account"), before you try converting over to broadband. This saves you the headaches of trying to debug a LAN setup, at the same time you are trying to debug a "broadband" setup (because your LAN setup will be "debugged" before you even try adding "broadband" into the mix)!
